Immer mehr Hersteller kündigen Windows Phones in ihrer Produktpalette an, nun folgt auch ASUS – laut Gerüchten. Der auf Smartphone und Tablets mit Android spezialisierte Hersteller aus China, sollen laut Angaben von Benson Lin, Leitung der Handheld Division von Asus, bereits Geräte mit Windows Phone in Planung sein, aber ähnlich wie bei den Gerüchten rund um Sony, wird noch auf den richtigen Zeitpunkt gewartet. Asus hatte zuvor schonmal eng mit Microsoft zusammen gearbeitet und hat mit dem E600-7 das erste Windows Phone Entwickler Gerät gebaut. Seit dem sind von Asus keine weiteren Smartphones mit Microsofts Betriebssystem mehr aufgetaucht.

We are very close with Microsoft. When we think it is the right time of course we will do it,” Benson Lin, the global head of Asus’ handheld division, told us in a one-to-one interview at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
„In my pocket, I always carry two competitor products. At the moment I have a HTC Titan and a Galaxy Nexus,“ he said.
“In the beginning our strategy is to focus and focus and focus,” insisted Lin, suggesting that those holding out for a Windows Phone handset shouldn’t hold their breath. “When the time comes we will do it,” Lin added.
